Journey Cover Band and The Dirty Show

Frontiers Tribute

Frontiers, the Journey cover band, will be performing this Saturday 2/20 at the Magic Bag in Ferndale. I have looked them up on YouTube and watched one of their performances and was very impressed. With the carousal of band members even the real Journey seems like a cover band. So I figure paying $15 to see a cover band is like going to see the real thing.

Plus I've heard that Steve Perry isn't even with Journey anymore and let's face it. He's the reason that our generation has fallen in love with the band. That voice... that hair... those jeans. If you long for the sound of his voice, Frontiers will not disappoint. Jeremy Hunsicker briefly sung for the real Journey in 2007 and contributed some songwriting to their "Revelation" CD.

Bottom line is if you like the real Journey and would like to see them in concert don't stop believing. They currently do not have any dates scheduled. But Frontiers will welcome you with open arms to their concert tomorrow night. Go see Frontiers!

This weekend is the last weekend for the International Erotic Art Show, Dirty Show in Detroit. The show is located at Bert's Theater in the Eastern Market area on Russell. It is open starting tonight, Friday, from 7pm-2am and then also Saturday "closing night" at the same time. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased in advance at Noir Leather in Royal Oak.

The shows stated mission on the website is, "to promote, publish and propagate erotic art in all forms." I feel like that is something I can support, especially if it supports local Detroit artists and a venue in downtown. Once again this is an opportunity to support Detroit and probably catch some good people watching at the same time.

Obama wins Nobel Prize and Motor City Brew Tours...

Go to fullsize image

It sort of comes as a surprise to me that Barak Obama, our president, won the Nobel Peace Prize today.  I think he was shocked too, since one of his aids had to wake him up (at 6am) to let him know he won it.  When I heard that I was like, "Obama sleeps in past six?"  I was up before the president this morning!  I guess he can't be awake 24 hours like I thought.  Anyway, I first heard the news this morning when I turned on the TV.  But there are countless articles about it on the internet, this is just one from the Wall Street Journal.  Obama was awarded the prize for his actions dealing with new countries and nuclear power and also for his commitment to communicating more openly with other world leaders.

Now on to the fun stuff...

Motor City Brew Tours has been in operation for less than a year but I think this is a winning idea.  It was founded by two gentlemen from the Royal Oak area who are salesmen during the day but love beer and want to spread the word about craft beer in southeast Michigan.  Steve and Bryan are currently offering tours of breweries in the Detroit area using the Night Move bus as transportation.

You can take one of their tours or they will let you customize your tour with three breweries that you want to see.  The tours include a tour of the brewery with the brewmaster, free tastes/pints, lunch, Q&A with the brewer and specials on pints and beer to go (growlers).

While visiting their website I was able to browse some of their pictures from recent brewery tours.  It seems as though the groups are small (around 10 people) and fun.  The breweries that I saw were Bastone in Royal Oak, Dragonmead in Warren and BNektar in Ferndale.  They have a great video slide show on YouTube.

I have not been to any of the above mentioned breweries and have not been on a tour with Motor City Brew Tours but I would gladly participate in one.  I think this would make for an awesome "mancation" or bachelor party activity.  Kudos to Steve and Bryan for this idea, it's beer-tastic!  What about chartering trips to famous breweries around the country... or even... the world.

Awesome rap videos

Recently I was made aware of this video by one of my brothers.  Apparently, David Holmes from Southwest Airlines now raps the informative info part at the beginning of flights... or at least the beginning of this one.  Kudos to you David... nobody pays attention during those things... I'm usually asleep already and rap music these days is usually about bling and women.

He not only got people to pay attention, he was able to make white people keep a beat... amazing!

Thanks Ted!

This video I found this morning on mygoogle.  I love Christopher Walken and this guy does a pretty decent impression.  I thought the rap could have been more humorous but hey, rapping is tough.  So without further delay, here is McGoiter from YouTube doing the rappin' Christopher Walken...

Cheers to you!

I am courageous.

I am unstoppable.

Without me, the puzzle is incomplete.

This honestly looks like a SNL commercial but it's real.  At least the website that they advertise is real, who knows what they send you if you send them your money.  But I can't get over this.  No disrespect to those people who suffer from depression or related problems but come on.  Do you really think that a CD with people cheering and a cheeeeeeezy motivational speaker guy gabbing in your ear is going to make you feel better?  I would become depressed just by ordering this product.

Do you own this CD or have you purchased something from this company?  Or do you just want to rip on this thing?  Leave a comment.  Thanks!
